Have you noticed that after the age of 40, it is much, much harder to lose weight? After 40, our metabolism slows down, our digestion becomes more sluggish, food cravings seem to intensify, our energy is flagging and the weight piles on. This has definitely happened to me and I’m hearing the same from my friends in their 40s and 50s. In my 20s and 30s, if I put on some weight, I would just cut back on the calories and do some extra exercise and the weight would drop off. Now, at 49, I have to be careful about what foods I eat. Over the last few years, I’ve researched which foods are best for our midlife bodies and here they are!

- Asparagus
- Kale/Broccoli/Cauliflower
- Cucumber
- Salad greens
- Spinach
- Turmeric

- Sauerkraut, Kimchi, Kefir, Kombucha, Live Yogurt
- Oily Fish (Omega 3)
- Colourful Fruit & Vegetables
